Maybe not. But he is where it counts. *taps forehead* And I don't know, maybe it is daft, but...anything we can do to make him feel normal...like his childhood was normal, even if he wasn't, you know? It might help later on. When we have to tell him where he came from.
*trying for a private conversation without being rude to Mr Logan*
I don't want to tell him just yet. But I don't want to lie to him, either. Truth's always best, even if it stings, my mum used to say. And you know how sharp he is, Peter, he'd know something was up.
He has a right to know. Especially if...well. If Jimmy and Kevin didn't quite get it right about him being safe now. And besides, what if...what if it has side effects? Where he came from? He popped out full grown; what if he gets younger as he ages? Or suddenly ages all at once? Or maybe he never ages at all, and his cells just start to break down once he reaches his normal lifespan, whatever that is for him?
...He hasn't got a mother. I suppose Kevin's the closest he's got to a mum.
*scratches back of neck uncomfortably*
Our Harley's a bit...special. Not like other kids. Is there some special reason you need to know his whole history before you can teach him? Or is there something specific we could tell you that might help?

*then gets it*
Oh. Aye, there's a few of us around here that look alike. I suppose I'd stopped questioning it.

There's some odd reason for it, but I'd forgotten. Something to do with levels of reality. I never understood all that rubbish anyway.
You are really not looking well.

Date: 2007-03-31 06:16 pm (UTC)Feel free to add to that. I never was very good at the writing stuff.
*turns to Mr Logan*
And you must be Harley's new teacher? *shakes your hand* Blythe. So, how's he getting along, then?

I've told you it's daft. He's not a baby.

Date: 2007-03-31 08:34 pm (UTC)I shouldn't mind it if we never told him. That'd be the best way to convince him that he's normal, in my eye.

He needs to know. For his own safety.
*sighs*
I just don't fancy telling him, that's all.

Date: 2007-03-31 10:39 pm (UTC)Have another drink of that whisky. I was telling you our family was unusual, well, this involves more of that.
He doesn't have a mother. He was cloned. From Blythe and me. Without our knowledge.
We haven't told him, because he wouldn't really understand yet. He's much younger than he looks, but he's been developing quite fast to catch up.
Raising him's been a communal effort so far, and he doesn't seem to have a problem with that.

Date: 2007-03-31 10:54 pm (UTC)We don't know how it was done, just that it was. And we don't know how he'll develop, either. We're just trying to take it as it comes.

Date: 2007-03-31 11:02 pm (UTC)Look, I know it seems mad.
But he really is our son, and we want to care for him the best we can. And he's incredibly bright, and sweet, and loving, and funny...
He deserves a chance at life same as anyone else. Are you willing to help him learn or not?

*looks deep in your eyes...and finally nods, resigned*
Alright, go on then. If he believes us I suppose it'll be a relief to have someone else know. *sighs* Maybe someone who can help him.
